the wall behind this one is just house paint and guache and the outlines are guache, gesso, and water. I'm using a sign painters brush in the next one. But the smoke/entrails aspect of the drawing makes me so much happier than the original smoke I was going to do.
research for the movie
Just moved to Cincinnati to teach art, can't believe they pay me for this.

space dust from battle of ETA (evil twin asteroid ) the one with the eyepatch and the mighty hutka shovel fighters.
I have to actually draw the batttle otherwise no one will get it in the show.
asteroids that were broken up by the mega freedom fighter space ship. When I do the installation again the asteroids will be where the rulers live, and then you will also see on the space ship all of the freedom fighters, like Mr. Miagi, and Beetlejuice.

more from the studio

The whole installation is about a private space adventure that has asteroids and evil twin asteriods as the protaganists, the drawings on paper are either zoom in or zoom out views of the emotional actions. It was the best way to make the drawings relate to each other was to add a second narrative that wove another layer into the already playful and akward work.

Making a show
I just finished a new performance today. Only 15 or so people in the stands, not as many as last time. But I guess students weren't interested in this one as much because there was no free food. Trying to hold on to the words Alex, my independant study said to me,"This one was great, it was serious, but I think they got it." I really wished the curator from the CAC could have seen this one. Maiza said she was coming but I guess had other things to do.
Didn't as with almost everything, get any documentation of the work other than a bad video clip of one of the less amazing parts to me, and some photos that Alex took. He was a good helper.
Built onto a chair to fix it up for a performance object. I want to keep working on the chair and add on more and more bits to make it a completely fancy object that I can perform with for a few more works.
I have to try to re-transcribe what I did for this one.
Starts with a conversation about balance, and trying to stay away from the speaker of the karaoke machine, then goes into other parts, and then to just words through a tube that I read for a boy in Covington who has a machine that speaks for him.
That really happened by the way, and I hope people understand that who were in the audience.
The Chair of the program, sorry Director, Mark Harris came. He smiled and said some nice words. I think he missed the first two sections, but that is still better than nothing.
Going to my final meeting of the quarter about Color Theory. Learned so much about how I want to teach in the future.
Can't believe they re-hired me for next year. What were they thinking? I got a great image to scan in and post in a few days, but until then.
