Thank Heaven

I didn't get to watch the show last night, and when I say the show, I mean the only show that matters on TV right now. NO it is not Idol, it is the death-defying drama of Top Chef.

Harold has beaten the Curly-Haired Monster. Amen!

On the Top Chef judges blogs much debate is happening about the finale #1 where Dave was eleminated. I have to side with the critics on this one. Poor move for the show, no one ever cared about The Curly Demon. I honestly think if Dave was in the final episode I would have made an excuse to stay in richmond and not miss the show.

(joking)

But I am sure it will be on again soon, like tonight, and I can give the play by play two days late!

Well Done Harold, well done!

show opening down at Art Space next week.
Excited that it is really happening now. Praying for a good review in style.

Praying that they actually look at the work.

I;m working this week in the office of my first real job ever. How times just keep revolving around to lead me back to my old chair, with an old PC with my old images still on it from the first blog I ever had. Now that is sad. I have energy today, keeping my smile up, making people like me, because I want a job!@ Working temp for the week is nice an all but I have bills! Outstanding bills that baffle me, and keep me from running away from my house into a world of mystery with the Circus.

Which leads me to the Question of the Day!!! Ta-DaH! I have never done this before, ask a question and actually try to get an answer from the internet.

What would be your ideal job in the Circus, if all skills and training were at your disposal?

For me, I would like to be the Carnival Barker. The MC in the center ring is a bit much for me right now. I would work up to that. But as a child I remember the Circus first as the land with the Loud, Loud guy who sounds like he trained with W. C. Fields (a personal hero of mine) and Tom Waits (the greatist voice ever to be interviewed with Fresh Air). I still remember exactly how his bark went, "Programs, Get'cha Programs. See the sights and sounds of the three ring extravaganza first hand, the inside look at your favorite stars of Ringling Brothers Circus. Programs, Programs, everyone needs a program!"

I still would run away and do that everyday. In no way could that get old.

Multi-use everything

Today our fine President of VCU made according to the Times Dispatch one of the best statements I have ever heard about the Diamond:
"I envision a major professional and amateur athletic, recreation, and entertainment complex that serves the entire Richmond metropolitan area -- where thousands of fans can enjoy professional baseball and other sports; where local universities, including our own, can compete in intercollegiate Olympic sports and host NCAA competitions and tournaments; where high school athletes can vie for local, regional, and state championships in track, soccer, field hockey, and tennis; and where residents of surrounding localities can come together for amateur competition and to enjoy community events.”

When the mike was shut off he continued "Where we can invent our own sports using out of work Adjunct Art teachers as targets, and have theengineeringg students make giant rocket blasters while we form the only southern Curling team (that one is for me) in the entire NCAAdivisionn."

I have actually never seen Troni. I hear he has a charm about him. Someone a few years ago mentioned a chance meeting and without even knowing who he was he had an air of importance to him. Like he exuded something respectful. I don't know many people who do that. Oh wait, Mark Harris has that about him too.

I don't honestly want to get involved in anything related to "The Diamond." They will build whatever they want. Does baseball bring in money for the city? A bit I assume, but more importantly it allows stuffy nose people to feel outnumbered by blue-collar genuine drunks. Everyone needs a dose of a drunk who has many opinions and if you only work in an office, go to fancy pants bars that are too expensive to get drunk in you will never know the joy of meeting someone who has just a tiny bit of understanding on a subject but a gigantic opinion coupled with half a case of High Life. (BTW I just learned never to buy this stuff, ever!)

So as long as Troni figures out how to use the money from his amazing idea to fund a "working class sister university" attached to VCU, I say I think we have a newmayorall Candidate on our hands! (Mr. President I am copywriting that tag line.)

New Article!

So I have an article in the New issue of RVA (Print style) magazine, and online a totally different article, with amazing spell check and increased word count. Are all those words about dating older mothers needed? I'm still not sure.

I have also just started reading this amazing writer! Who is he? Anyone know? I have a useless Masters degree as well, but he is actually funny.

These are the last of the great shots of my students. On film they look amazing, but with the cheep digital camera it was hard to get good shots.
